Auction Centre Manager

We are looking for an Auction Centre Manager to lead our busy Chelmsford site.
The role will report into the Director of Group Operations and will be responsible for the day to day running of the center and delivering the site strategy.
Principle Responsibilities Include:
- Lead the Auction Centre.
- Enforce & promote safety within the workplace.
- Meet and exceed financial and operational metrics.
- Provide effective People Leadership and Management
- Promote exceptional levels of service throughout the Centre.
- Champion continuous improvement throughout the Centre.
- Work collegiately and seamlessly with peers to meet and exceed the company strategy.
Duties Include:
- Provide visible, respectful leadership to the Auction Centre and be the technical expert for the site.
- Lead and deliver the site strategy, including the provision of effective auctions for our customers vehicles by physical or digital means.
- Be the site quality and process improvement champion.
- Nurture and champion all customer relationships, both vendor and buyers.
- Produce quality management information within set timescales.
- Ensure exceptional site standards and housekeeping.
- Ensure all employees adopt a high level of personal presentation, including the relevant uniform and PPE.
- Monitor group policies and procedures to ensure the site fully meets the required operating standards.
- Lead daily weekly and monthly site meetings as required.
- Highlight potential process failures prior to any drop in service levels.
- Support all Operations department projects.
- Ensure site adherence to group HSEQ & Compliance policies and procedures.
- Meet and exceed the monthly and annual financial budget (profit and loss and balance sheet) and related financial KPI’s.
- Take responsibility for all financial requirements including site MI, reforecasts, and annual budget.
- Ensure all employees have PDR’s and monthly 1:2:1’s which have structure giving SMART objectives throughout.
- Be the final escalation point of contact for all customer issues at site level.
- Ensure effective resource planning is in place across the site.
- Identify growth opportunities and seek to fill gaps in revenue.
- Work with customers and internal stakeholders alike to convert opportunities.
- Maximise revenue opportunities through the upselling of all of Aston Barclay’s products and services.
Skills/Experience:
- Proven management skills including Profit and Loss responsibility for a business of at least similar size and complexity.
- Motivational leadership qualities that develop and evolve the business.
- Established experience in effective problem solving and decision making. Experienced in change management.
- Ability to manage, coach, mentor and develop people.
- Proven ability and experience of managing a complex, fast paced operations function.
- Proven experience of managing large teams.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.
- Detailed understanding of operational drivers, strategy and departmental issues and taking initiative to deliver.
- Experience of producing high quality information to deadlines.
- Automotive industry experience – preferred but not essential.
- Experience of managing budgets and P&L.
- Knowledge and experience of managing HSEQ & Compliance standards and processes.
- Proven experience of delivering exceptional service to customers both personally and through a team.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
