Aston Barclay rolls out special forces-inspired colleague wellbeing initiative during Mental Health Awareness Week

Posted 16 May 2019

Aston Barclay is rolling out a new employee wellbeing programme inspired by the mindset of special forces operatives and elite military units.

The Break-Point Prime Evolution programme – designed by Ollie Ollerton, special forces soldier and star of hit TV show SAS: Who Dares Wins merges military special forces operational planning and tactics to help business and individuals achieve their long-term goals.

The programme has also been produced and designed by a team of qualified experts including fitness and wellbeing expert, David Tilston and nutritionist, Holly Brown.

The move coincides with the Mental Health Foundation’s Mental Health Awareness Week which takes place from 13-19 May 2019. The theme this year is Body Image – how we think and feel about our bodies.

Prime Evolution is a six-month programme which targets health from multiple angles by focusing on mindset, bodily movement and nutrition. Guidance, motivation and challenge; instructional videos; and weekly meal plans are all key components of the programme.

The first Aston Barclay site to go live with the programme was at its new 18-acre Wakefield auction super centre which saw Ollie and David personally visit the site and work with nearly 50 of the team.

Aston Barclay’s Group CEO Neil Hodson, said: “With an increasing awareness of mental health and general wellbeing within the workplace we are delighted to work with Ollie in bringing this employee initiative to life.

“We have grown significantly as a business in recent years as has our colleague headcount. As our greatest asset, it’s vital we ensure our people are in good health physically and mentally, both personally and to optimise business performance.

“This initiative is designed to achieve just that and is something we are proud to have implemented.”

Stephanie Grace, HR director at Aston Barclay said: “The physical and mental wellbeing of our people is critical to us as a business. One-in-four people experience mental health issues and we want a culture that encourages colleagues to talk to each other and seek support when they need it.”

Prime Evolution is one of a series of programmes Aston Barclay offers across its business to support employee mental health and wellbeing, including training for its management team supported by BEN – the automotive industry’s support charity.
