Our car auction has been a fixture in Chelmsford since the 1960's. As well as being the premier car auction in the South East it is also our Head Office.
The 12 acre site, situated on Junction 19 of the A12, is within easy reach of London, the South-East and East Anglia and is three miles from Chelmsford train station on the main line to London.
The centre benefits from free customer parking, full valet facilities, café, smart repair technicians, comprehensive transport and delivery services and a team of staff dedicated to making the vehicle auction process simple, rewarding and profitable.
Aston Barclay Chelmsford holds six regular sales per week, a weekly fleet sale, weekly sales on behalf of Mercedes-Benz and numerous special sales in its specially built state of the art twin glazed auction halls.

Adrian has a wealth of experience with over 20 years within the auction industry at Aston Barclay Chelmsford. Adrian's career has developed within the organisation originally working in the fleet department, progressing to operations manager and his current position of centre manager.
Transport & Logistics Manager
Helen has worked with Aston Barclay since 1991. Beginning as a sale day driver, she has covered a multitude of roles including yard & operations manager, HGV class one car transporter driver, working her way up to transport manager for Chelmsford. She holds the CPC national, responsible for operator licence compliance & coordinates our transport and logistics operation, managing a fleet of 6 trucks & 15 drivers for plated movements. Helen is also group health & safety advisor overseeing compliance at all of our centres. Helen holds the Nebosh Diploma & Nebosh Construction Certificate & recently completed a Masters degree in management with Essex University.
Fran joined Aston Barclay in 2005 as a sale day clerk and has since worked her way up to office manager, responsible for the smooth running of our administrative functions, as well as being account manager for key OEM accounts. Fran has also been instrumental in the training and development of staff at Chelmsford.
Auctioneer & Buyer Services Executive
Barry joined Aston Barclay in 2003, having worked as an agricultural auctioneer previously. Initially he obtained an administrative grounding covering most facets of the office and moved on to Account Management and then assumed the role of Auctioneer and later Buyer Engagement Manager. His approach to Buyer Engagement focuses on meeting buyers and positively discussing their experiences and expectations. Having completed the Microsoft Office Diploma, he compiles various reports at Branch and Group level whilst maintaining a hands on role supporting the various day to day sales processes.
Group Auctioneer & Buyer Services Manager
David has worked in the auction business since 2002, working his way up from a trained vehicle inspector to become an auctioneer for a leading worldwide auction company. David’s experience covers auctioneering on behalf of fleets, OEMs and franchised dealer groups, with particular focus on commercial vehicles sales. David joined our Chelmsford centre in 2016 and is also responsible for increasing our buyer audience.
Auctioneer & Buyer Services Executive
Andrew joined Aston Barclay in 2013 as an Apprentice in our office, handling dealer group accounts. He has since undertaken, and completed a number of NVQ qualifications as well as our in-house auctioneer training programme and now enjoys holding sales for clients from across the industry, as well as having responsibility for some of the major accounts in his administrative role.
